Ruby on Rails I

I've been playing around with Ruby on Rails and I am very impressed by some of the design decisions put into rails. It is a very intuitive language and a very intuitive framework. It solves 80% problem very well. Sure it doesn't have all the supported features of Java and all the dependent libraries, but that's where it shines.

By KISS, ruby/rails is an excellent tool in any web developers repertoire. For example, I was able to implement a web crawler/db archiving tool in 3 hours, implement a web application over a couple of weeknights...

Of course, as with any new technology, there are wrinkles that require a bit of digging and hacking. But that's what makes it fun :). There also seems to be more and more hosting solutions cropping up daily.

Very cool picture of Austin that I took last fall. I'm playing around with blog publishing. Posted by Hello
